Biography: Professor Wenhui Song
Professor Wenhui Song is a chair of Biomaterials and Medical Engineering and the Director for Biomaterials in Surgical Reconstruction and Regeneration at the Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, University College London. She leads research in development of novel biomaterials and biomanufacturing for artificial organs, implantable devices and regenerative medicine. Currently she coordinates and participates several major multi-disciplinary projects funded by EPSRC and Wellcome Trust, working on development of 3D printing human organs, piezo-electric nanofiber based cochlea implant, robotic total laryngeal replacement and soft robotics for surgery. Her work has been awarded 15 national and international prizes. She has authored/co-authored over 70 highly-cited journal papers including Science, Advanced Materials, Biomaterials and 4 book chapters. She is a member/panel member of the EPSRC College and Innovate UK.
Her presentation will update recent progress on 3D printing elastomer nanohybrid and composites for surgical reconstruction and regeneration of soft tissues and organs.
Biography: Mr Matthew Gardiner
Matthew Gardiner is a consultant plastic and hand surgeon and the new Surgical Specialty Lead for Plastic and Hand Surgery. He is passionate about collaborative clinical research.
