Biography: Professor Peter Butler

Professor Peter Butler is Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and director of the Wolfson Centre for Reconstructive Surgery. He is interested in complex reconstructive problems. One of his main research interests is in the treatment of fibrotic conditions which parallels a large clinical patient practice with various difficult fibrotic conditions. He has developed stem cell based therapeutic solutions for the treatment of patients with fibrosis secondary to Scleroderma, Post Cancer Radiotherapy, Lichen Sclerosis, Graft Versus Host Disease and Burn Injury. His other research interest is in the development and application of Tissue Engineering, 3D Bioprinting and Nanotechnology as well as Facial Allotransplantation.

After medical qualification he pursued his research interests as a fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School working with Andrew Lee and David Sachs at MGH as well as Charles and Jay Vacanti at Harvard and Bob Langer in MIT.  He completed his clinical training in London and New York and on his appointment at the Royal Free Hospital and University College Hospitals in 1999 set up an active research group at the UCL Royal Free campus. He developed and directs the MSc programme in Burns Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Biography: Professor Katarina Andjelkov

Professor Katarina Andjelkov, MD PhD is an accomplished plastic and reconstructive surgeon. After graduating medicine at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, she was trained in plastic surgery by prof. Ivo Pitanguy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Upon moving back to Serbia, she completed her master studies and PhD degree in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. She is the owner of the first Clinic for regenerative surgery in Balkans where she performs stem cell treatments. She is a leading researcher in studies involving cell therapies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade and holds the position of professor of regenerative and plastic surgery at the University SESA, Brazil. Dr Andjelkov is an active member of a number of professional associations such as: SBCP, Aexpi, ASPS, IFATS, ISAPS, SRBPRAS. She is frequently invited as a speaker in most of the Plastic Surgery meetings worldwide. She is author of more than 20 peer-reviewed papers published in renowned medical journals and a multi awarded co-author of papers

Biography: Dr Amir Gander

Dr Amir Gander is the Director of Tissue Access for Patient Benefit (TAPb), a group that facilitates research focused on use of human biological samples and non-interventional clinical trials. Having worked in industry to develop new medicinal products, Amir is one of the founding members of TAPb within the Royal Free and UCL. He also leads the UKCRC Tissue Directory and Coordination Centre, which is a national and international research infrastructure that brings together large patient cohorts, human biological samples clinical data and researchers across the world.

Biography: Dr Katie Goldie

Dr. Kate Goldie has been an Aesthetic Physician for 14 years and is the Medical Director of European Medical Aesthetics training, one of Europe’s largest training companies where, through the UK training arm Medics Direct, she has overseen the training of over 5.000 medical professionals. Lecturing globally, she has taught medical aesthetics in 55 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America, with a special interest Regenerative aesthetics and applied anatomy. Medical Director of Clinic 77 , Dr Goldie has private practices in London’s Harley Street and Henley on Thames and is the of Founder of MD aesthetics and regenerative research hub, London.  She is a fellow of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine, board member of Royal Society of Medicine, Scientific committee for international conferences including AMWC Monaco, FACE London.

Biography: Associate Professor Eqram Rahman

Dr Eqram Rahman’s training is broad and encompasses a number of the various areas that fall under medical and surgical education. He received his undergraduate degree in Medicine and subsequently gained Master of Surgery, Ph.D. and Master’s in medical education.

Though trained as a clinician, Dr Rahman defined himself primarily as a researcher and an advocate for evidence based clinical practice. Since his research is based on clinical approach and its practical outcome, for the past 15 years he has been using the study of these skills as a framework to interpret data critically. More recently, Dr Rahman is actively involved in the research on nonsurgical facial aesthetics, facial anatomy, ageing and regenerative aesthetics. He is very active in promoting evidence-based practice in field of nonsurgical aesthetics. Always interested in education, he has been heavily involved in medical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Rahman has established and led many postgraduate surgical programmes across leading universities in the UK and highly regarded as an expert in graduate medical education and training.

Dr Rahman is always active in research throughout his career with a record of publications in quality journals. An active member of the professional societies, he maintains strong collaborations with other research institutions and holds honorary professorship with leading higher education and research institutes in UK and abroad.
