Biography: Associate Professor Eqram Rahman

Dr Eqram Rahman’s training is broad and encompasses a number of the various areas that fall under medical and surgical education. He received his undergraduate degree in Medicine and subsequently gained Master of Surgery, Ph.D. and Master’s in medical education.

Though trained as a clinician, Dr Rahman defined himself primarily as a researcher and an advocate for evidence based clinical practice. Since his research is based on clinical approach and its practical outcome, for the past 15 years he has been using the study of these skills as a framework to interpret data critically. More recently, Dr Rahman is actively involved in the research on nonsurgical facial aesthetics, facial anatomy, ageing and regenerative aesthetics. He is very active in promoting evidence-based practice in field of nonsurgical aesthetics. Always interested in education, he has been heavily involved in medical education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr Rahman has established and led many postgraduate surgical programmes across leading universities in the UK and highly regarded as an expert in graduate medical education and training.

Dr Rahman is always active in research throughout his career with a record of publications in quality journals. An active member of the professional societies, he maintains strong collaborations with other research institutions and holds honorary professorship with leading higher education and research institutes in UK and abroad.

Biography: Professor Kurinchi Gurusamy

High quality research is necessary to identify the diagnostic tests that are accurate and treatments that are effective. Systematic review of randomised controlled trials in literature is currently considered the best level of evidence in assessing whether a treatment is effective. Among systematic reviews, Cochrane systematic reviews are considered the best quality systematic reviews. Professor Gurusamy is the first author or contact author in more than 70 Cochrane systematic reviews and an author in more than 100 Cochrane systematic reviews. Overall, at least 40 of his systematic reviews and cost-effectiveness analyses have been used in national or international guidelines indicating that his research is not only of high quality, but also that the research topics he choose are important for patient management. Biography: Professor Naiem Moiemen

Professor Moiemen is President of the International Association of Burn Injury (ISBI), Immediate Past President of European Burn Association Executive, and past Chairman of the British Burn Association (BBA). He has published more than 100 papers in peer review journals and book chapters. He is a member of senior editorial board of BURNS and Journal of Burn Care and Research and was deputy editor of Journal of Burn and Trauma.

Biography: Mr Dan Marsh

Mr Marsh is trained in all aspects of plastic surgery with a specialist interest in breast reconstruction, male and female congenital breast conditions, skin cancer treatment and aesthetic surgery. He has a PhD from UCL, with research interests in breast surgery, wound healing and the development of new nanoparticle based therapies for skin cancers. As well as at the Royal Free London, Mr Marsh provides plastic surgery services at Mt Vernon and Northwick Park Hospitals.

Biography: Mr Allan Ponniah

Mr Allan Ponniah is a Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon with a special interest in facial reconstruction. He trained in Craniofacial surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital and did fellowships in Holland, France and Japan. His interest in the face has led him to start a software company that plans to use AI to unlock the vast potential of the human face.
